About This Project

An electronic checklist that integrates right into your favourite iOS EFB app – works in both AvPlan and OzRunways

Finding myself flying a bunch of different aircraft types, with various avionics installed from numerous operators, all with different variations of checklists on-board, or none at all, I found I was wanting to standardise my approach to reduce workload, and enable more efficient and safer IFR flying. I wanted to keep the same procedures and flows I knew and trained with but adapting them to the specific aircraft type, while dropping superfluous items (like gear down and prop full forward in a basic 172) and presenting it in a consistent way – and make it paperless. I had searched for checklist apps, but found they weren’t very good and it was cumbersome to switch between my EFB app and the checklist app. Some EFB apps offer checklists built in, but aren’t great or approved for use in Australia compared to our two common options. So my solution ended up being a simple PDF imported into the documents section of my EFB app. It was ok, but felt insuficient, due to the nature of the static list sometimes checks would be missed, my place would be lost, doors would come unlatched on take-off roll or windows would pop open. . . . we’ve all been there. I wanted something more but never actioned it. Then, not so long ago, I was asked what I used for checklists and whether I knew of any interactive apps that were suitable for the task. I explained the above and said something interactive was something I had thought of but had never done anything about. Queue several successive lockdowns, plus weekends locked away in my home office and here we are. A responsive, interactive, persistent checklist system that can be integrated right into your EFB – complete with all Normal and a selection of Abnormal/Emergency checklists.
